Tea may even be more beneficial than it seems. The antioxidant flavonoids found in many teas may have even more benefits than just cancer risk reduction.
For instance, researchers at the American Chemical Society determined that flavonoids are
“generally believed to decrease the incidence of many types of cancer and cardiovascular disease.”
According to Poulton, “A number of studies have shown that tea drinking is associated with a decreased risk of cancer, particularly in women.”
If you can’t stand the taste of coffee, tea may actually be better for you than coffee.
By using green tea to make your coffee, you’ll be sipping on the health benefits of its anti-cancer compounds all at once.
And unlike coffee, tea’s are isn’t likely to give you a stomach ache or a jittery energy rush.
However, if you enjoy the taste of coffee, but want to maintain the benefits of green tea, it’s best to drink black tea, which contains high amounts of catechins and other antioxidants.
